  3. This is version 1.10 of Progman-Groups.
  4.

  6. Progman-Groups gives you the possibility to have groups in
  7. groups in the progammanager of Windows.
  8. Because PRGGRP uses normal progman groups, you don't have 
  9. any limitations.
  10.  
  11. The use is very simple.
  12.  
  13. 1) Copy PRGGRP.EXE and PRGGRPH.DLL into your windows-directory
  14.  
  15. 2) Make sure you don't have checked 'minimize on use' in the
  16.    programmanager
  17.  
  18. 3) Place PRGGRP.EXE in the Startup-Group and restart Windows.
  19.    
  20. 4) Now, if you want to have for example a group Tools with subgroups
  21.    Graphic-Tools, System-Tools, Printer-Tools and File-Tools,
  22.    you create a group Tools and the four subgroups with the
  23.    NEW-Command of programmanager. 
  24. !  The first character of the subgroup-name MUST be a SPACE ' ' OR the 
  25.    last character MUST be a POINT '.'. 
  26.    (E.g. ' Graphic-Tools',' System-Tools','Printer-Tools.','File-Tools.')

  28.    This must be so, because the program PRGGRP watchs the groupnames 
  29.    because it must distinguish between groups and subgroups.

  31. 5) Now, you create four items in the group Tools.
  32.    Each item you give the name of one of the four subgroups
  33.    and the command: PRGGRP.EXE Groupname.
  34.    The parameter Groupname MUST be the same as the name of the groups in 4)!
  35.    (A leading space is automatically inserted, but if the groupname
  36.     has a point at the end you must include it)
  37.    For example: Item1: Name:    Graphic-Tools
  38.                Command: PRGGRP.EXE Graphic-Tools               
  39.         Item2: Name:    System-Tools
  40.                Command: PRGGRP.EXE System-Tools               
  41.         Item3: Name:    Printer-Tools.
  42.                          !
  43.                Command: PRGGRP.EXE Printer-Tools               
  44.         Item4: Name:    File-Tools
  45.                Command: PRGGRP.EXE File-Tools.

  47. 6) The last thing you have do is to save the progman configuration now
  48.    by simply pressing <ALT>+<SHIFT>+<F4>.

  50. Now, if you minimize a subgroup, it will disappear and if you doubleclick
  51. at the his icon in the group tools, it will be visible again.

  54. The program PRGGRP is very simple. 
  55. If you start it with a parameter, then tt only sends a command to
  56. the programmanager to show the group which is named by the parameter.
  57. This is done, if you doubleclick e.g. at the symbol Graphic-Tools in
  58. the group Tools
  59.  
  60. If you minimze a group window, then PRGGRP checks if the group is
  61. a subgroup. (A subgroup has a blank as the first or a point
  62. as the last character of the name). If the group is a subgroup
  63. then the PRGGRP hides the icon.

  65. You can have as many subgroups you want, but they must all have an
  66. unique name and a name WITHOUT blanks inside (e.g. not 'File tools'!).

  68. Also you can have a group in a group in a group.... in group.

  71. IF you start PRGGRP twice you can see an icon with a systemmenu.
  72. (If you like the icon, you can place TWO PRGGRP-icons in the
  73. startup group and you always will have the icon.)

  75. In the systemmenu you can do the following things:
  76. - Temporarily disable:
  77.     You disable the procedure to hide the icon. It will be
  78.     usefull, if you want to change the properties of the subgroup
  79. - Show hidden groups
  80.     This shows all hidden groups. It will be usefull, if you want 
  81.     to change the properties of the subgroup
  82. - Hide hidden groups
  83.     This hides all normaly hidden groups. It will be usefull, if you 
  84.     have disabled PRGGRP for a time, or if you have shown all hidden
  85.     groups

  89. PRGGRP works very fine, but there are two little restrictions
  90. - cou can't have progmans 'minimize on use' enabled, because
  91.   every time if you start PRGGRP to show a subgroup by doubleclicking
  92.   one icon, progman will be a symbol.

  94. - the submenu 'windows' of progman shows ALL groups and not only
  95.   the visibles. 
  96.   (But the dialog 'more window' will only show visible windows!)

  99. You can use and distribute PRGGRP free, as long as the following files are 
  100. not changed and you distribute all files together

  103. - prggrph.dll

  106. I am programming PRGGRP because I have fun and not to make any profit. That's 
  107. why PRGGRP is free and you don't have to pay more or less high registration 
  108. charges.I think it is a bad habit, that more and more program authors want to 
  109. have money even for the smallest programs.
